Exercise · ZW-GREATEST-COMMON-DIVISOR-003 · ★☆☆ Basic
Compute \(\gcd(0,9)\).
Choose one option.
Show answer
← Back to the question
Explanation
Every integer divides 0, so the common divisors of 0 and 9 are the divisors of 9; the largest is 9.
The greatest common divisor \(\gcd(a,b)\) of two integers \(a\) and \(b\), not both zero, is the largest integer that divides both.
\[\gcd(a,b)=\max\{d\in\mathbb{Z}:\ d\mid a,\ d\mid b\}\]
