Exercise · ZW-GREATEST-COMMON-DIVISOR-002 · ★☆☆ Basic
Compute \(\gcd(35,64)\).
Choose one option.
Show answer
← Back to the question
Explanation
\(35=5\cdot7\) and \(64=2^6\) share no primes, so the numbers are coprime and their gcd is 1.
The greatest common divisor \(\gcd(a,b)\) of two integers \(a\) and \(b\), not both zero, is the largest integer that divides both.
\[\gcd(a,b)=\max\{d\in\mathbb{Z}:\ d\mid a,\ d\mid b\}\]
