Which of these vectors belongs to \(\operatorname{span}\{(1,0,1),(0,1,1)\}\)?
Choose one option.
Show answer

Explanation
A vector \((a,b,c)\) is in the span if and only if \(c=a+b\). Only \((1,2,3)\) satisfies \(3=1+2\); it equals \(1\cdot(1,0,1)+2\cdot(0,1,1)\).
A linear combination of several vectors is a sum of scalar multiples of them; the span is the set of all possible linear combinations.
\[c_1v_1+\cdots+c_kv_k,\quad \operatorname{span}\{v_1,\dots,v_k\}\]
