Exercise · ZW-MINKOWSKI-INEQUALITY-004 · ★☆☆ Basic
If \(p = 1\), what does the Minkowski inequality state?
Choose one option.
Show answer
- B. \(\|f+g\|_1 \le \|f\|_1 + \|g\|_1\)
← Back to the question
Explanation
For \(p=1\) the inequality bounds the norm of the sum by the sum of the norms. A bound with subtraction or an equality with a product is not valid.
Inequality stating that the \(L^p\) norm of a sum of functions is at most the sum of their \(L^p\) norms, for \(p \ge 1\).
\[\|f+g\|_p \le \|f\|_p + \|g\|_p\]
