Exercise · ZW-PRODUCT-RULE-008 · ★☆☆ Basic
Differentiate \(f(x)=\left(x + 2\right) \cos {x}\).
Choose one option.
Show answer
- D. \(\cos {x} - \left(x + 2\right) \sin {x}\)
Exercise · ZW-PRODUCT-RULE-008 · ★☆☆ Basic
Choose one option.
With \(u=x+2\) and \(v=\cos {x}\): \(u'=1\), \(v'=- \sin {x}\). Then \((uv)'=u'v+uv'=\cos {x} - \left(x + 2\right) \sin {x}\).
Rule giving the derivative of a product of two differentiable functions: \((fg)^{\prime}=f^{\prime}g+fg^{\prime}\). It is not the product of the derivatives.
